SUMMARY: Zambezi is a complete turnkey Real Time Windows Media 9 and MPEG-2 encoder that also encodes fully compliant streams to several other standards. This is a hybrid encoder running on a Dual Xeon processor which makes it easy to support other encoding standards. The Zambezi is targeted at Content Creators and Broadcasters who wish to encode live to 2 or 3 standards or same standard to 2-6 inputs and later stream the content just encoded from the Hard Drive. In order to capture and encode more than one stream concurrently we employ 64 bit PCI capture cards and also use Dual Xeon processor equipped Mother Boards. We are proud of not only the resultant output but also the tools that makes either live or batched encoding easy.

Zambezi uniquely gives you the ability to repurpose your content into multiple formats simultaneously, in realtime. This means you no longer have to choose between Windows Media and Real Media streaming formats. You can have multiple versions of each at the same time. If your system is powerful enough you can even add non streaming formats such as MPEG and other archive formats without giving up your real-time encoding. Zambezi's systems support real-time encoding into MPEG-2, Quicktime, and lossless or uncompressed compression broadcast quality video. The list of video formats supported continues to grow and the software upgradeability means you never have to worry about compatibility with new streaming video standards as they arise. Multi-format encoding means you can reach a larger, more geographically diverse audience than ever before.

With Zambezi you are not locked into low resolution or low quality streaming video formats. Every Zambezi comes equipped with a powerful Media Processing Engine (MPE). The MPE delivers high quality video by removing noise from the source video. In addition, the MPE can reformat the video into progressive scan for a true digital video experience. Video that contains less noise will be more efficient to compress, and progressive scan allows you to transmit your content at resolutions greater than 320x240, without the typical artifacts induced by other systems. The advanced audio processing capabilities of the MPE give you complete control over the audio quality. Each audio channel (8 total) comes equipped with a 7-band Parametric EQ, and each stereo pair has a built in dynamic range compression/expansion engine to ensure that your message gets through loud and clear. The processing capabilities of the Zambezi not only improve the quality of audio and video, they also remove a significant portion of the work from any compression engine being used. Cleaner audio and video means less work for the CPU, which means you can actually process more audio and video streams simultaneously. Greater quality, higher resolution, and more streams add up to the most productive system available.

Zambezi software is designed for ease of use, high productivity, and simple integration. This application was designed from the ground up to address the problem of capturing, processing, and encoding of streaming audio and video. It is not burdened with the complex user interface elements found in other solutions designed for video editing or single frame image processing. The user software is designed with the user in mind. The work flow within is simple and gives you the freedom to control many of the video and audio parameters with a single click. You move easily through the application selecting the video input, adjusting advanced proc-amp controls to setting the encoded output. The process associated with each encoding session can be saved in part or in whole. This intuitive environment allows you to easily recreate an entire project, or to reuse portions of the project within other jobs. With this software your productivity is increased with less effort and the cost of training is minimized, if not eliminated.

Automated Management To Make Your Job Easier:

The Zambezi software is not only easy to use and highly productive; it is highly configurable and programmable. Our software utilizes a system of keyword shortcuts (tags) which you control, shortening the amount of data entry necessary for each job. Company information, time and date stamps, author information, and anything else you can think of can be automatically appended to the metadata information of a stream, its file name, or it can be referenced externally through external scripting support. functionality can be extended through the use of external scripting or applications allowing you to customize how the Zambezi works in your environment. Any functionality that can be performed by a script or external command line driven application can be added to easily on a profile by profile basis. This allows you to have separate functionality for Windows Media files than you do for Real Media or any other format. Move, copy, delete, rename, ftp, just about any function you can think of can be added through the external command interface.


The Zambezi's also comes with a Java based, password controlled remote control application. This allows you to control multiple servers from any browser that supports Java 1.2 or above. Manage projects, set profiles, start, stop and monitor any number of systems throughout your enterprise all from your web browser. Based on Java Web Start technology, the remote application can be installed and activated on any supported platform that has a network connection.
